Spray Tan Tips

Sunless tanning is one of the best alternative means of getting a realistic looking tan and one of the most popular ways of applying a sunless tanning product is as a spray. Many people prefer to visit a tanning salon for their spray tan or you can do it yourself. Whichever way you choose, here are a number spray tan tips to get the best results.

Follow spray tan tips to get the best sunless tanning results

The surface of your skin is constantly being renewed from beneath so you don’t want to spray tan the oldest, outermost skin layer which would result in short-lived tan. The first of out spray tan tips is to remove the dead skin cell layer before your tanning session by taking a bath the night before and rubbing yourself with a loofah or Baiden Mitten. This way you reduce the thickness of the dead skin layer you’re about to apply spray tan to and it will take longer to build up again before it starts to be wear off along with your tan.
Another of  our spray tan tips is to shave or wax before getting a tan because shaving afterwards will cause your tan to streak by exfoliating the skin beneath the razor and removing your tan. Some people have reported that they were able to successfully shave after tanning without streaking but only by using a brand new razor.

Spray Tan Tips – Moisturizing

Now that you have exfoliated your skin, the next step in getting your skin ready for a spray-on tan is to moisturize it to get rid of dry patches of skin especially around your ankles and knees. If you don’t do this you run the risk of getting a patchy-looking tan because the spray tan solution is taken up in different amounts by the skin according to how dry it is. Regularly apply moisturizer to your skin after spray tanning to keep your skin from drying out and the tan from wearing off prematurely.
If you don’t want the option of being nude or near-nude, be careful to choose dark colored tight fitting clothes that will cover up all those areas that you do not want to be tanned. Make sure you put your hair up and back really well otherwise you could end up with lines on your face cause by a few loose strands of hair.
Tanning salons will usually offer you a special blocker lotion to put on your hands and bottoms of your feet which should be carefully applied. It’s best to protect the tops of your feet as well since they get a lot less sun than the rest of you and are a good bit paler and may get darker pretty quickly – you can always self tan the tops of your feet after a spray tan session to match your all over shade of tan.
After the tan has been sprayed on it’s important to stand still for about 30 seconds to give the tan chance to dry evenly then blot off any drips by patting with a towel and never rub at your skin. It will take a lot longer for your tan to dry or ‘set’completely and the advice usually given is not to shower for 8 hours and the last of these spray tan tips is to wear loose fitting dark clothing over your new tan because it is easily rubbed off at this stage.
